Center for Translational and Basic Research

Summary:

The RCMI-funded Center for Translational and Basic Research (CTBR) at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) enhances the institution’s research infrastructure to support basic, translational/clinical and community engagement research to address health disparities and improve health outcomes. Our approach is to enhance our capacity to conduct targeted research in the following core areas: Cancer, Neuro/Behavior, Bioinformatics, and Disease Prevention. Our programs support investigators so they become more successful in obtaining extramural support in biomedical/behavioral research, particularly on diseases that disproportionately affect minority populations, and foster professional development in the biomedical sciences especially in our core research areas.
